First we had
(person + situation) Luck = Outcome
then
"((Personality + Attitude + Actions) + situation)Luck = Outcome
How do we define situation in this luck equation. There are bad situations, good situations and neutral situations. It is very difficult to think of a particular situation without thinking of the person or persons that are linked to it.
This value may not be as fixed as values you would assign to person's traits( Personality, Attitude and Actions). We can use the following range...
Good...7 - 10
Neutral 5
Bad 4 - 1
Assigning a value to a situation is a subjective exercise. For me, sitting down at a blackjack table is a situation that would get a value of 3. Casino blackjack has odds that always favour the house. So putting your money down expecting to win is not good situation. The outcome may be positive due to the person's traits and, luck(which we haven't talked about yet). Now if you are a card counting blackjack player the situation for you may warrant a 5 or even a 6 because you have an advantage. The main thing is to be honest with your situation valuing.
Situations such as going on a blind date may be a 3 or 4 but meeting someone who a friend has set you up with may be a 6 or 7 since your friend may have some idea of what you like in a person. Use the formula, just remove yourself from the situation and consider all other factors and give it a score.
We still have to talk about "luck". Is it a constant value? Can it change? Until next time, think about a person(traits) and the situation(future or even past) and assign a score. Maybe you can be the person.
Take care...

Lucky Situations - The Person
"(person + situation) Luck = Outcome"
Looking at this basic equation, how much of an impact does the person have in the final outcome. What type of personality traits, attitude and actions does a person have to increase the likelihood that an outcome will be positive rather then negative. From a scoring perspective the higher the person rates the higher the value of outcome. The more positive the value of outcome to the person. I think you have to establish a score for the person independent of any situation but base it on a general analysis of how the person overall has been doing in all situations. If we use the above mention characteristics, Personality, Attitude and Actions. . Take myself, on a scale of 1 to 10 I rate my personality as a 7. I think my personality is good and does serve me well in most scenarios of life. I can't give myself a higher score because I feel I don't have one of those "charm you" personalities or "sell you anything" type. Attitude, well I think for me it would be about a 7. I am pretty positive and have a "everything will work out" attitude towards life. In most situations I think the best will happen and if it doesn't, it usually does not get me down I just move to the next challenge. Actions I would give myself 7 also. I am cautious but like to be active. Whether its work, play, relationships I think actions are part of life and we can't stand still. There are many that move faster then me, but I feel I have a great pace. So there is my self analysis for what is worth. I think you could do the same on yourself or someone you know. Just be honest.
For me the "person" value looks like
"person" = Personality + Attitude + Actions
= 7 + 7 +7
= 21
That's my value. So our luck formula looks more like this
"(person + situation) Luck = Outcome
"((Personality + Attitude + Actions) + situation)Luck = Outcome
This equation is evolving and changing. Now that I have a crude formula for "person", how does a specific "situation" change the formula. Lets find out next time. Hope you enjoyed the read, write a comment and give me your thoughts on our luck formula. Take care

Lucky Situations - The Equation
The last post pointed us in the direction that luck is not really good or bad, it is the outcome which we can impact that can be more good then bad. Calling someone Lucky or unlucky is not truly accurate, it can only be applied to situations in a person's life. So how do we use luck to get a good outcome rather then a bad one. I think luck can be used in each situation differently and is only one multiple in the equation. If we assume for now that luck is a constant value or number which is impacted by the person and the situation itself. I think the equation at first glance is
"(person + situation)Luck = Outcome"
The determination of someone is lucky is only by looking at the outcome and applying judgement based on our own definition of what would be a good outcome versus a bad outcome. It is interesting to think of luck as a constant. It would mean there is nothing we can do to change the impact of luck. If you think of all the things people due to increase their luck, when maybe luck never increases or decreases it is a constant in our lives. That means the other variables must be the ones that people knowingly or unknowingly change to get a positive or negative outcome from a situation. It would almost make luck a non factor in many situations. The right person in the right situation must achieve the right outcome if luck is constant. But we have all seen the most likely winner lose or the favourite lose the game. How does that happen? I think we will need to look at this equation in more detail. Maybe the equation will change through our discussion or it will remain the same and we will look the other parts of the equation which may answer some of the questions.
By reading this blog maybe you are changing the equation for you or at least thinking about is which I think is a good thing. Take care and may luck be in your control and the outcome be one that you desire.

Lucky vs. Unlucky
There are two groups which people tend to think everyone falls into, lucky and unlucky. The grouping usually applies to a person’s life as a whole but can also be broken down to areas of life; relationships, career, finances, health etc. I have been thinking a lot about which group I think I would fall into and what areas of my life are unlucky or lucky. I want to dig a little deeper and see if this grouping really applies to us.
I tried to determine what the differences are between unlucky and lucky people. One thing I discovered is that for the most part we can only identify unlucky people because they tell us that they are unlucky or our own perception of their life situation makes us label them as unlucky. We have all come across people who feel everyone is lucky around them and they are the only unlucky ones. Actually I have been one of those individuals many times. "Why me". Why can't I win the Lottery or get that great job or find that someone special and the list goes on. Whenever we tend to struggle, thinking about luck becomes one of our main outlets. Then there are those who have health limitations or other challenges that make us think of them as being unlucky. This is simply our perception of them. But for the people who use the "why me" it is clear that they are unlucky and are communicating it to the rest of the world.
Lucky people on the other hand really don't go around saying they are lucky. It is our perception that they are lucky because of what happens to them. Whether its getting the right job, finding the special person or winning the lottery we will label them as lucky. They may claim to be lucky to win the lottery or to find the right job or finding that special person but they never claim to be lucky on the whole. From what I have noticed, lucky people never attribute their luck to themselves, there is no "its me". Unlucky people state "why me" and lucky people state "I was lucky in this situation". And that to me is the key. Unknowingly lucky people have detached themselves from luck, and only look at it from a situation or circumstance point of view.
From this I conclude that luck is outside of us and can be controlled knowingly or unknowingly to act in our favour or against us. Think about it. Based on that we have to stop thinking about ourselves as being lucky or unlucky but start thinking about what we can do in each situation to have luck impact the outcome in our favour. So Lucky vs. unlucky doesn't really exist only luck which is all around us in every situation. Don't ever try to change your luck but try to change your actions and or thinking to get luck to change the outcome.
Next blog I want to talk about specific situations and what people have done to have luck work for them. I have posted a random number generator so for those looking at picking some winning numbers please use it. Comments are appreciated. Take care and may luck be in your control.

The Beginning....
Have you noticed how there are some people who always seem to be lucky. Others have luck in only certain areas of their lives. Lucky in relationships and struggling in careers. Some are unlucky when it comes to health but are lucky when it comes to fortune. What is clear to me is that luck plays a big part in our lives.
I am new to the blog world and hope that through this discussion we can figure out how to create luckier lives. I think we know the power of luck or at least have come across it in our lives. Good and bad. My feeling is luck can be the difference between success and failure in so many areas in life. I read this somewhere
'Luck is when opportunity meets preparation'
Lets see if we can work on the preparation so when the opportunity comes we are on the right side of luck. The next couple posts will do with what I think the difference is between unlucky and lucky lives. Thanks and have a great week.
